What does it mean when a city council member is "elected at large"?

I have seen that city council members are "elected at large" in my area and I wondered what that meant. Since I don’t have a political background, any information would be interesting.

That means they will represent the entire city as a whole, and not an electoral district of the city. They will be elected by every voter in the city and not just a voter group defined by a geographical area.
