Many people might … Many people might have turned this event into a drama-circus. Good on both sides for being adult about it. Seems to me that this sort of conversation should be held by everyone on a regular basis. Whether the government is recognized or not, an informed community that holds constructive discussions is in everyone’s favour.
There is a reason … There is a reason videos like this only get 1300 views, its because you’re in the minority. This Ian guy is pure comedy and seems to always be upset.
Do these people … Do these people work? I’d like to see them spend their time and resources on something more important, like getting better programs at the local tax funded college instead of funding a sports complex. Or perhaps mitigating the coming energy crisis caused by global oil and resource depletion.
I am impressed that … I am impressed that this bureaucrat took the time to speak to Ian. Ian handled himself well and professionally, but most of these bureaucrats would duck the tough questions…this guy deserves his props for debating the points with Ian.
Sacrifice the one … Sacrifice the one for the common good of the majority! I think that’s called socialism last time I checked. Actually the constitution protects individual’s inherent rights to Life, Liberty and Property regardless of the majority will of those who participate. That is the difference between a Republic and a Democracy. A Democracy is dangerous and violent because the majority abridge the rights of the individual for its own selfish reasons and results in no tranquility or peace in a community.
We are all created … We are all created equal except when one gets a job with the “government” then that one becomes more equal than everyone else.

In the situation … In the situation where he described the house on fire threatening the houses around it, if any of the houses around it were covered by fire service the fire service would have put the fire out before it spread in order to minimize loss to the clients house. Fire service would most likely be provided as part of an insurance policy, the insurance company would be extremely foolish to just let their clients house burn to the ground because they would have to pay for the damage.

I wish i counted the number of times that he said “the common good is served” and “welfare of the community”.
