In Oklahoma is it legal for a person that has filed bankruptcy to be City Manager for a small town?

Sure it’s legal, but the chances are slim that you’ll be hired.

If you want a job like that, even for a small town, having bankruptcy in your past will bring up a HUGE red flag. You can try though.

Yes. Bankruptcy is a civil matter…not a crime. The person filing bankruptcy is not guilty of any crime unless he conceals facts or assets that he or she was required to reveal for purposes of the bankruptcy.

Hon, everything is legal unless there is a law against it. May not be any laws on the books prohibiting it. It depends on the little town.

If it has been 12 years, the bankruptcy should be off your credit report. If not, then it’s legal but very unlikely that they’ll hire you.
